About
Back Support Mount for Permobil Corpus

The Spex Back Support Mount for Permobil Corpus provides a low-profile solution for mounting Spex back shells to Permobil Corpus seats. Similar to the Spex Power Recline Mount used on other power wheelchair bases, this design offers a shallower setup than existing mounting options for Corpus systems, maximising the available seat depth.

With a slim 13 mm profile and 25mm of vertical height adjustment, it supports a neat, adaptable installation without compromising compatibility across the broader Spex seating system. It is compatible with most shoulder-height Spex back supports and all Spex accessories, allowing attachment of head supports, trunk harnesses, and lateral trunk supports.

This mount is designed specifically for Permobil power wheelchairs that include Corpus in the product name. It is not compatible with M1, Koala, or pediatric chairs, and is also not compatible with Spex Zygo Lo, Vigour Mid, or Adapta Back Supports.

The Spex Seating System complies with ISO 16840-4:2009 and RESNA WC-4:2017, Section 20.

The following Spex products have been tested on the surrogate wheelchair frame defined by these standards: Back Support, Seat Base, Cushion, Arm and Thigh Supports, Lateral Trunk Supports, and Head Support.

Spex seating systems are designed for use with wheelchair bases that conform to ISO 7176-19. When installed on a conforming wheelchair base, the complete system complies with the requirements of the wheelchair transport standards. The Spex Back Support Mount for Permobil Corpus is Spex-approved mounting hardware for fitting to Permobil Corpus seats used in transport. Installation should be carried out by a qualified professional following all installation and transit instructions for the wheelchair base and seating system.

For transport, a wheelchair tiedown and occupant restraint system (WTORS) conforming to ISO 10542-1 must be used. Check the position of the vehicle-anchored occupant restraints (lap and shoulder belt) when the occupant is seated as proper belt fit is critical for transport safety.
